Big Valley Blessings

I have been looking forward to posting some of my Big Valley photos for weeks! This place in the country is very special to me. I don’t know how to explain it, but there is just something about it! There are so many things that I love about this place! I love walking down the country roads. Walking quietly past the many fields full of dairy cows, horses, and other livestock. Stopping to walk down a creek bank, standing there for awhile, watching the shallow water flow under the bridge. Hearing the clip-clop of horses hooves on the pavement, turning your head to see the open summer buggy pass. Wave back at the little boy sitting in the back who waved to you. Looking up and seeing the start of a beautiful sunset. Watching the clouds as they begin to take on a soft glow. Feeling the warm breeze blow in your face. Suddenly realizing that you took the wrong turn and you are on some road, somewhere. Looking around and laughing because this is not where you were trying to go! Seeing another creek up ahead and deciding to just keep walking! It doesn’t matter what road you take or where you end up. You are enjoying a beautiful sunset surrounded by God’s amazing creation! The valley is peaceful and quiet as you make it back to the house just in time to see the last rays of sunlight slip from view………..

Country FarmhouseHow many of the little things do we miss in life? The things we miss because we are ‘in a hurry’ or have ‘to much to do.’ There are so many ‘Sweet N Simple’ things that we pass by every day!  There are so many back roads left to walk, sunsets left to see, people to be kind to, etc. You could just keep adding to that list! Give your siblings a hug, take the time to talk to someone, send a card.  It can be so easy to go about our life and not even give these things a second thought. But you should! Count your blessings and try to BE a blessing to others!  ‘Feeling the warm breeze blow on your face.’  Yes, it is something simple, but it is sweet! Not everyone can walk, not everyone can talk, not everyone can be outside to feel the breeze blow on their face! Thank God for the simple blessings in life! They are actually BIG blessings!!

Don't forget, sharing is caring!

  1. Cynthia, your thoughts are beautifully written. You are one of my small blessings that is actually huge. Love you.

  2. Wow… it looks like I will be enjoying your blog! I so love the simple things and beautiful country, especially Amish Country. I believe I was born in the wrong state! Your blog, from just glancing through it so far, feels like a sanctuary of sorts. The photos are amazing! Can’t wait to see more! Thank you for finding me, and glad I found you! Cheryl
