Well, this is definitely going to be a harder post to write than usual! Where do you even start, with a topic like this? We live in a world where people have been told from birth what they need to do in their life. Be a good child, graduate high school, go to a great college, get an amazing job, grow your bank accounts, etc. Basically, just climb the ladder of success. There will always be a certain standard that you feel you need to live up to in order to have a successful life. But it is really what we think it is? Is success different in God’s eyes than it is in mans? Yes. Very.
In God’s eyes, success is defined MUCH differently. It doesn’t matter to Him if your clothes are new and stylish. It doesn’t matter if you are popular and have a ton of friends. It doesn’t matter how much money is in your bank account. It doesn’t matter where you live or what kind of car you drive. The things that truly matter are on the inside! Things like love, kindness, compassion, generosity, faith, hope, and the list could go on forever! Those are the things that really matter! People won’t remember the superficial things about you. They will remember your actions. The ways you showed that you cared for them. Your kindness and compassion. Your smiles and laughter. At the end of our lives we will see that so many of the things that we thought mattered, really don’t!
So how can we live a life that really matters in God’s eyes?
First, we must seek His will in every area of our life. Surrender your life completely to God and His will for you. We can’t just say, “Here God, You can have this part of my life. But that’s all. I want to be in charge of everything else….” Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way… Not at all! God wants total surrender and submission.
Second, as we follow Christ, we will become more and more like Him in thoughts, words, and actions. Our joy will begin to shine through in every area of life! (More on this in a later blog post) People will begin to notice that there is something different in your life. They will notice that you are living with a purpose! The purpose is to honor and please God in every area of our life! Living for God. So simple, and yet it can seem so complicated. Living for God. The one thing in your life that REALLY matters!
Make sure you put an effort into having a successful CHRISTIAN life! Don’t just leave God standing on the sidelines, as you rush by on your way to the top. Time spent serving God will never be wasted. Time spent helping others should never be regretted. Time spent being a servant and putting others first will be blessed. Ask yourself, what really matters to me? Whose will am I putting first in my life? God’s will or my will? Do the things that I want to do, line up with what God wants in my life?
Try your best to focus on the things in life that really matter!!
