2018: The Year Of No Regrets & Living Purposefully

Happy New Year’s everyone! I…… can not even fathom how it is 2018 already. Like seriously, HOW? This past year has flown be so unbelievably fast. It’s been crazy, it’s been busy, but it’s been amazing. I hope you all had a wonderful past year! I know that for me, looking back, I would have to say that this has been the best year of my life so far. Yes, of course this past year has had it’s rough moments, but through it all, I have been so beyond blessed in so, so many countless ways.  Now, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2018!

So now, looking ahead to the year of 2018…….. I have never been one to really create checklist goals and resolutions because, well…… I know that I will forget about them in a week or two. Instead, this past year, I have been thinking a lot about not just trying to have little “goals” that I’m soon going to forget about, but instead, having achievable goals and dreams and a plan to accomplish them. Striving to learn to not just check off lists and goals, but more so, to create a way of life; A life that’s lived with purpose.

That being said, the main “theme” that I want to keep in mind this year? Living life with no regrets. Not because I’m perfect and have no regrets, (Ha, nope, not at all. That would be amazing though.) but because I want to live a life that my 80 year old self will be happy with. I want to be able to look back and see a life where I have done something worthwhile with the time that I have been given. So, put simply, yes, I want to live a life with no regrets.

So does that mean that I’ll be able to go through the entire year of 2018 and be able to look back and truly have no regrets? Well, I seriously doubt it. In fact, I most likely won’t be able to get through the first 24 hours of the year without a regret. Yes, I will obviously make mistakes, but I want to have a purpose and vision. Is it even possible to live a life without a single regret? Well, definitely not for me. But hopefully, by the end of this post, you’ll be able to understand the basic idea that I’m trying to get across here. With God’s help, I want to live an amazing life, with as few regrets as possible, this year and always!

This time next year, I don’t have even the slightest clue what exactly I’ll be doing. Maybe I’ll be working, maybe I’ll be traveling, maybe I’ll be doing mission work half way across the world. Who knows, maybe I’ll even change my mind about college, and be a college student studying to be a Medical Assistant. I have no clue! Truly, the options are endless. Especially at this point of life, there are so, so many different paths that could be taken. There are so many different places that could be visited. There are so many different things that could be done. Right now, I have only the slightest idea (or maybe I should say hope) of what the rest of my life will be like. But one thing that I do know for sure? I know that I want to live it with as few regrets as possible.

One year from today, I don’t want to be that person looking back and saying, “What in the world did I do with the past year?” One year from today, I don’t want to be regretting the things that I didn’t do, the opportunity’s I passed up, the ministry work that I could have done, the places that I could have seen, and the people I could have helped. I don’t want to be looking back and regretting the things that I did or didn’t do. I want to be proud of the things that I did. Put simply, I want to see accomplishments.

What would your 80 year old self have to say about the way that you’re living your life right now? Seriously, take a few minutes to stop and think about it. 60 years from now, what are you going to be regretting? What are you going to be wishing you had done differently? If some things instantly came to mind, then decide to change them NOW! You don’t have to wait until you’re on your deathbed and regretting the life choices you made and the ways that you wasted the time you were given. Make the decision NOW to live a life that you can be happy with. That God will be happy with.

If we knew that 2018 would be the last year we would have on this earth, would we change the way we are living our life? Would we spend more time with family? Would we spend more time serving and looking for ministry opportunities? Would we work harder? Would we get up earlier? Would we find more joy in the simple things? Yes, yes and yes. I guarantee that we would. Really, none of us know how much time we have left; So why don’t we decide to live that way? Why don’t we decide to put in the effort that it requires, to get the life that we want?

2018: Let’s make this the year we decide to get up an hour earlier to see more sunrises and live an hour longer. Let’s decide to laugh more. To love more. To serve more. To give more. To adventure more. To waste less time…… To live a life with no regrets……. And to purposefully live each day like it’s our last.

So, in summary: Let’s do our best to make 2018 (and all the years to come) a year of no regrets & living like it’s our last. Live your life with a purpose!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on trying to live a life with no regrets. Did you make any new years goals and resolutions? Let me know in the comments down below!

  1. Sorry delete that previous comment I just posted. I accidentally hit the post button. Here’s my comment that I was trying to post below.

First off it’s great to have you back. Second off Great Post! Third off PLEASE do NOT leave us again. No I’m kidding! Take all the brakes as you need to. Trying to live my life without regrets is my life’s theme! I think it’s a great idea to try to live that way! I try to spend as much time with my family as possible ( unfortunately my sister’s and I have been traveling A LOT lately. that’s close to spending time with family right? ) I think after this 2 month long trip we should be together and home for at LEAST 6 months. To answer your question Yes, I made eight goals for this year. I would rather NOT share those goals though😉 Have a great week! Love, Joy💜 Genesis 1

    1. Thank you, Joy! Yes, its nice to be back. And unless something comes up, I might not take another blogging break until next December. I hope you are all having a wonderful time traveling and visiting family ☺ Have a wonderful day ❤

  2. I tend to live life with an attitude of survival. I just try to survive each day! It is a necessary way to live at times, but it isn’t good to be stuck in that rut! I’m focusing on being more purposeful this year. I don’t want to waste a moment or regret not taking an opportunity! It is a hard balance when I have responsibilities that tend to be all encompassing, but I was created for greatness… I’m a Princess of the King after all 😉

    1. Yes, it can be easy to get pulled into the survival mode rut. ~And especially for busy mothers like you, I know~ But you are so right, you were created for greatness ☺ Best wishes for living purposefully, this year and always!

  3. Hey girl!! Once again you knocked it out of the park! This post is spot on… it is so important for us as ladies to realize our importance and find purpose in each day. I am looking forward to 2018 and pursuing a year of challenge, as well as taking lots of time to soak in the moments. Love, Mom

  4. Lovey post!!!! Your posts are always amazing. This post brings to mind John 17:4:
“I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” I want to be able to say that someday!!!!!!
