8 Bible Verses Every Young Woman Needs To Know

Good morning, ladies! I hope you have all been doing well. I know that I haven’t shown my face around here lately, but don’t worry, I’m still here! My schedule is finally starting to balance itself out, so I will *hopefully* be blogging more often in the future. Today, I’m going to be sharing just a few of my favorite bible verses that I think every young woman needs to know and keep in mind. Hopefully they can be an encouragement to you!

8 Bible Verses Every Young Woman Needs To Know - A Sweet N Simple Life

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Yes, I know it’s super cliche to be starting out on the topic of beauty….. But I think it’s needed! There are so many false ideas of what “beauty” is. We live in a world full of plastic surgery, fake eyelashes, colored contacts, concealer, hair extensions, and i.e. fake beauty! Is an airbrushed, photo shopped model actually beautiful? Well, maybe as far as the worlds standards go…. But that’s definitely not what defines real, true beauty, and that’s definitely not what the Christian girl should aspire to. I know that you have heard this before, but beauty is not skin deep!

Your beauty should come from within! When others look at you, what do they see? Do they simply see a face full of makeup, and a body dressed in the most stylish of outfits? Or do they see sparkling eyes, a smile on your face, kindness and humbleness, a servants heart, and a genuine love & care for the people around you? True beauty comes from the inside out.

Ladies, it’s time to stop spending so much time on our hair and makeup, and spend more time building good character!

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Proverbs 31:26

Ladies, ladies, ladies. You know where I’m going with this one…… Think before you speak! You really don’t need to say every single thing that comes to your mind. Learn to think before you speak. Before you open your mouth, take a moment to ask yourself, are these words going to be:

  • Uplifting
  • Encouraging
  • Positive
  • Pure

If the words you are about to speak don’t fall under those categories, they probably shouldn’t be said. Do your best to speak your words with wisdom and not say things that you will later regret.

For me personally, I try to be extremely careful when using sarcasm, because I have witnessed the negative effects of it far too often. Yes, there can be a time and a place for it, but it’s not as much as you may think! It may seem harmless, but is it really? How often does the use of sarcasm degrade people and disrespect those in authority? Yes, sometimes sarcasm can simply be fun and teasing, but just be sure that you aren’t using it as a disguise for something that shouldn’t be said. Remember, there is a big difference in wit & humor, and in hostility disguised as sarcasm.

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. Proverbs 4:26,27

Ladies, you need to have a plan. You need to think about where you’re going in your life. Of course, you can’t perfectly predict the future, and there will always be unknowns, but don’t be stumbling through life with your head down and your eyes closed. Live your life intentionally! Be praying for God’s will to be done in your life, and take the steps that He wants you to take. No matter where you go in your life, be sure that your ways are established. God has a plan for your life. The good news is, he can work through our mistakes and make something beautiful out of our messes. But it doesn’t have to get to that point!

Do you have standards? Do you have boundaries? Do you know what you believe? Let’s go a step further; Do you know why you believe it? No, I didn’t ask what do your parents believe, what are your parents boundaries, standards, rules, etc. I asked, what are yours. You need to be established. You need to know what you believe and why you believe it. You need reasons for why you do what you do, and why you live the Christian life that you do. THAT is what’s going to keep you heading the right direction in your life. THAT is what’s going to keep you from turning away from where you should be.

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 1 Corinthians 9:19

This world needs more people with servant’s heart. Selfishness is one of the most common (and overlooked) faults, but in my opinion, it is one of the worst. True joy comes from serving others and putting their needs above your own. So many of the problems in life, come down to selfishness. Selfishness destroys joy. Selfishness destroys relationships & families. Selfishness destroys churches. Selfishness destroys lives!

Ladies, if you live your life like everything is about you, that’s exactly what you will be left with. Just you! Show me a miserable, lonely, complaining person, and I’ll show you someone who lived a life full of selfishness. You don’t have to be that person! Choosing to be selfless is not always going to be easy. But I guarantee you, it will always be worth it.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

So many young women are holding themselves back and not living up to their full potential, simply because of their age. Please don’t be one of them! “Age is just a number” doesn’t just apply to older people. Stop worrying about your age, and start focusing on living! Your life doesn’t start on your 18th birthday, your life doesn’t start when you get your dream job, your life doesn’t start when your last name changes. Your life is right now. Today! As the verse says, don’t give older people reasons to speak bad of and despise youth. Show them that it can be a good thing! Be a good example.

Don’t rush through and waste the years that God has given you. Don’t stumble through your days wishing that things were different. Make the best of what you have and learn to be content. Actually, let’s go a step further….. Don’t just choose to be content, choose to be joyful! Make wise choices with the time that you’ve been given, and show people what a Christian should look like!

And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 1 Timothy 5:13,14

This way not be a popular opinion, but I believe that women were created with the purpose of having a family and running a household. So many young women view having a home and family as a bad thing, but that’s not the way that God created it to be! It’s a beautiful thing! Yes, I understand that not every woman is going to be a wife and/or mother, but EVERY Christian woman should still be living by the same basic principles. It can be easy to become so focused on career goals and selfish ambitions, that you forget about your purpose, to serve & bless others, and to bring glory to God.

Use the gifts that God has given you to help. You were created to bless! Whether you are a wife, a girlfriend, a single girl, a daughter, a sister, a friend, it doesn’t matter! God has plans for you! Whether you are working a full-time job, taking care of your home, homeschooling your children, etc. be sure that you still have your priorities straight. No matter where you are in your life, be sure that you are using your time wisely, working hard, and not becoming an idle busybody. And on one last note, work as hard as you possibly can! If you have an opportunity to stay busy, work hard, & bring glory to God, then take it!

Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 1 Peter 3:16

Ladies, your testimony is so, SO important. Do your best to keep a good testimony and be blameless. Your testimony should be so good that if someone falsely accuses you of something, it will be obvious that they are lying. If someone lies about you, are they going to end up making themselves look bad? Or will people believe the accusations against you, because you’ve given them good reason to?

If you feel like you have already marred your testimony because of bad choices, there’s still good news for you! Thankfully, we serve a God full of forgiveness, and he can help you move past your mistakes! You’re future doesn’t have to be determined by the mistakes that you have made in your past. We all mess up, we all make mistakes, we all fail. If you have made mistakes (which we ALL have) don’t ruin your future by focusing on them. Get it right, and then move on!

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I know this is quite a well known verse, but when’s the last time you actually thought about what it means? Seriously, take a moment to read that again…… Do you realize just how powerful that verse is? That means that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Not even you or your shortcomings! No matter what may be going on in your life, it’s not powerful enough to separate you from the love of God. God’s love will always be there for you! Even if every person in this world deserted you, God would still be there. No matter what comes your way in life, you can’t escape God’s love!
